Assistant Director On POSITIVE Southwark Playhouse Borough

I’m incredibly proud to share that POSITIVE, a powerful new play by Temi Majekodunmi, opens tonight to a sold-out audience at Southwark Playhouse Borough. This marks a meaningful moment not just for the cast and creatives, but for the wider landscape of new writing in British theatre.
Serving as Assistant Director under the brilliant Robert Awosusi has been an enriching and energising experience. Robert leads with clarity, generosity, and precision, and it’s been a pleasure to support his vision throughout the rehearsal process. From initial read-throughs to tech, I’ve gained invaluable insights into his collaborative process—balancing artistic detail with a deep respect for the performers’ creativity.
This production is part of Southwark Playhouse’s Forge Festival, a platform that champions emerging theatre-makers, and it’s exciting to see stories like POSITIVE taking centre stage in such a supportive environment. Thank you to everyone involved in this production, especially Robert and Visual Sauce’s Mwansa, Daniel & Simon, for trusting me to be part of it. I can’t wait to see POSITIVE come alive on stage and connect with the audience it was made for.
