SWEETNESS
Written By Ye-ye Esohe, Sweetness confronts unspoken truths within the Black community and explores what it really means to ‘be a man’.
How do you survive?
Always having to be strong, solid, tough—never gentle,
never sweet, never…
soft.
In the heart of South London, Dwayne, a young Black man seemingly with his ‘ish’ together, harbours a deep secret that threatens to erupt.
His altercation with friends, old and new, reveals unfiltered ideals of identity and toxic masculinity.
Can Dwayne finally confront his fears and break free from his restraints?

”Great dialogue and characterisation, super believable and funny in moments, with vulnerability in other moments...Light and seemingly harmless until the other side emerges...Important work!
