Bio
Llyrio Boateng is a writer/director working across theatre, film and audio. He trained at the Young Vic, taking part in the Directors’ Springboard and Fresh Direction programmes. He has been selected for the BFI NETWORK Writers Lab, BAFTA Connect, the Black British Book Festival’s A New Generation Speaks, Theatre Peckham’s Rye-ting group, and is a member of the Southwark Playhouse Black Writers Collective. His script—a post-WWII drama—placed in the top 10% of BBC Writersroom submissions and was highly commended by the National Theatre’s New Work panel.

He has directed plays at Theatre503, Southwark Playhouse and Riverside Studios, as well as directing and producing the radio drama ‘My Mother Must’ve Heard It, Too,’ starring Casualty‘s Adesuwa Oni.

Llyrio began his career as a commercial dancer, performing alongside global icons as Kylie Minogue, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Ariana Grande across renowned stages, TV shows and music videos. In 2024, he starred alongside Elizabeth Hurley in the thriller Strictly Confidential.
