Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s Open Room
More:
Llyrio Boateng has been selected for Open Room, a new initiative from the legendary Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
Open Room is designed to give early-career creatives like Llyrio a rare opportunity: a seat inside the rehearsal rooms of two major professional productions—Noughts and Crosses and Brigadoon. The idea is simple but powerful: Boateng will observe the creative process from the inside, learn by watching, and deepen a professional understanding of rehearsal, tech, and preview practices.
Over the coming weeks, Llyrio will be observing rehearsals, technical sessions, and preview performances from some of the country’s most respected directors, creatives, and theatre-makers. From first day notes to final tech runs, Boateng will have the chance to witness how these productions are shaped from the ground up—across up to 20 days of rehearsal, 4 technical sessions, and several preview performances.
This is a unique training opportunity—invaluable in what it offers in terms of access and learning. The selection process was highly competitive, so Llyrio Boateng feels incredibly lucky (and grateful) to be part of this cohort.
A huge thank you to the team at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre for creating space for early-career artists like Llyrio to learn, observe, and grow. It’s especially meaningful for Boateng to be part of this while developing a personal body of work as a director and writer—where every insight into process, collaboration, and craft feeds back into how Llyrio shapes stories on stage and screen.
